Well, we did have a plan…and it was a good one! Then, with the unusually high pollen count, the crazy amounts of rain, and the fires in eastern Washington, let’s just say the gardens look very similar to the way they ere last fall.

However, hope really does spring eternal in a garden, so I am already making plans for next year! We have some nice garden spaces, good foundation plants (roses!) and plenty of space. What we need is to get the weeds under control, add some raised beds for herbs and vegetables, and always, always more lavender.

We’re very fortunate to have some lovely, large lilacs that my husband’s grandmother planted. They’re huge, and we can walk through that tunnel in the middle of the photo.

I can’t find my rose photos from last summer, so I’ll make another post for those in the future. For now, I’m collecting ideas, and this photo is one of my favorites from Pixabay. We do have hummingbirds, but I’d like to see even more.
